About Safari Bandara

Not a company with a fleet — one guide, one jeep, and eighteen years spent learning a single national park well enough to share it properly.

Bandara — your guide

I don't just drive the jeep — I read the forest.

— Bandara

The Guide

Eighteen Years, One Park

Bandara has spent more than eighteen years on the trails of Wasgamuwa National Park — first learning them, now guiding others through them. He knows where the herds tend to cross the Mahaweli at dusk, which grassland the elephants favour after rain, and how to wait quietly when a leopard is close but not yet visible.

Every safari is private: one jeep, one driver, one group. There's no fixed script — the pace of the morning is set by what the forest is doing, not a printed itinerary.

That's the whole business, really: a comfortable 4x4, a driver who reads the bush instead of a map, and a small group that gets his full attention for the length of the drive.

What a Safari With Bandara Actually Looks Like

Log 01

Local Knowledge

Eighteen years of driving the same trails means knowing where the herds cross the Mahaweli, which grassland draws them after rain, and when to simply wait.

Log 02

Private & Personal

One jeep, one driver, one group. Nobody is folded into a shared tour bus or a fixed itinerary — the morning goes where the wildlife takes it.

Log 03

Comfortable & Safe

A well-kept open 4x4, sensible pacing around the animals, and a driver who's spent two decades learning where not to push closer.

Common Questions

Q1

Will Bandara be my actual guide?

Yes. Every booking puts you in Bandara's own jeep, with Bandara himself behind the wheel — not a rotating roster of drivers.

Q2

Is it a private safari or a shared group tour?

Private. The jeep is booked for your group alone, so the pace, stops, and photo breaks are yours to set.

Q3

How far ahead should I book?

As early as you can once your Sri Lanka dates are set, especially in peak season (roughly December to April), since Bandara only runs one jeep at a time.

Q4

How do I get in touch?

Call +94 72 408 4546, message +94 76 240 7539 on WhatsApp, or use the contact page.
